AI Features: Data & Privacy FAQ

Levitate includes built-in AI features that help you write, prepare, and stay in touch. Below are answers to common questions about how your data is handled when you use them, who can access it, and what controls are in place.

The Basics

Which Levitate features use AI?

  • AI content assistant — writes and rewrites emails, social posts, and review responses in your voice.
  • Universal AI Assistant — answers questions about your account, analyzes files you upload, and drafts content.
  • Keep In Touch Agent — reviews your contact activity and suggests who to reach out to, and why.
  • Meeting Prep — builds a briefing from your calendar, contact timelines, and team notes before each meeting.

Which AI providers power these features?

Levitate uses foundation models as disclosed at levitate.ai/underlying-ai-model-providers. These providers process data solely to generate your content.

Data Training & Access

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Levitate does not share your data with AI model providers for training. Under the providers' current terms, they may not use your data to develop or improve their models either. Levitate may use aggregated, de-identified data to improve our own services, as described in our privacy policy.

What data can each feature access?

Only what it needs. The content assistant sees the content you're working on. The Universal AI Assistant and Meeting Prep can access your account data — such as contacts, timelines, team notes, and your connected calendar — plus files you choose to upload. The Keep In Touch Agent reviews contact timelines, engagement history, and data boards to build its suggestions. Each user's AI access mirrors their existing Levitate permissions.

You Stay in Control

Can the AI send something without my approval?

No. AI-drafted emails and social posts are drafts until you review and approve them. The Keep In Touch Agent pre-fills suggested messages for you to customize and send, and intentionally has no bulk-send button.

Does using AI features change my compliance setup?

No. Emails sent through Levitate follow your existing archiving integrations (such as Smarsh and Global Relay), and content still flows through Compliance Flow and broker-dealer pre-approval where your account is configured for it.

Security Foundation

What security standards does Levitate maintain?

Levitate completes an annual SOC 2 audit, encrypts stored credentials with AWS Key Management Service using FIPS 140-2 validated hardware, and connects to your email via OAuth only, so Levitate never sees or stores your password. Our Trust Center at trust.levitate.ai provides live visibility into security controls, and our SOC 2 report is available there under NDA.

Where do I send a security questionnaire?

security@levitateapp.com. Our compliance team reviews vendor due-diligence requests.

Connecting Your Own AI Assistant

I connect ChatGPT or Claude to Levitate through the MCP server. Do these answers still apply?

Partially. The MCP connection routes your Levitate data through your own AI account, so your AI subscription's terms govern training and retention there. At the time of publishing, paid ChatGPT accounts are covered by OpenAI terms that exclude training on and retention of your data; free accounts do not carry those protections. Third-party AI provider terms are subject to change — confirm the current policy directly with your AI provider before relying on it. See the Levitate MCP Server article for setup details, and reach out to your account team for the MCP-specific Data & Privacy FAQ.
