Google Business Profile + Levitate

To bring our Customer Satisfaction surveys full circle, admin users on Levitate are now able to get connected to their Google Business profile. In order to see reviews, the credentials entered must belong to an admin, a manager, or an owner of the Google Business profile.

If you haven't already connected to a Google Business profile, and are an admin user, you'll see this dashboard card prompting you to connect.

Once connected, you will now be able to track Google reviews received while being signed on with Levitate— you'll see your percentage increase in reviews, star ratings and written reviews from clients, and the option to reply to all reviews!

When replying, you'll be able to use our AI assistant to craft a response that'll then post back to your Google Business profile. Toggle through reviews in the top navigation to easily respond to new reviews without having to click into multiple windows or tabs.

If you're the connected Admin— you can make changes to your Google Business profile integration, you're able to access them via the Integrations menu found under your name in the upper right corner.

Notifications about new Google Reviews

Levitate automatically sends out a digest email notifying Admins of new Google Reviews, so they can respond as soon as possible! Responding to Google Reviews helps with search engine placement and brings more traffic to your website, and hopefully your business!

These notifications are totally optional, and Admins can opt-out as they please.

Here's what that notification email looks like:

You can reply right through the email or access the review through your Levitate Dashboard and use our AI Assistant to help craft a reply.

Troubleshooting Google Business Profile Connection Issues

If you're running into errors while trying to connect your Google Business Profile to Levitate — particularly when using a personal email address — this article will help you identify and resolve the issue.

Why Personal Email Addresses Can Cause Issues

When connecting your Google Business Profile (GBP) to Levitate, the Google account you use must have admin, owner, or manager access to the business profile.

A personal Gmail account that has not been added to your Google Business Profile will not have the necessary permissions — even if it's the email you use day-to-day. This is the most common cause of connection failures.

How to Fix It

Step 1: Check your account's access level

  • Go to your Google Business Profile and sign in
  • Navigate to Business Profile Settings → Managers
  • Confirm that the Google account you're using is listed as an Owner, Manager, or Admin

Step 2: Add your personal email as a manager (if needed)

  • If your personal email isn't listed, you can add it as a manager from within Google Business Profile settings
  • Once added, allow a few minutes for the permissions to propagate, then try connecting again in Levitate

Step 3: Reconnect in Levitate

  • In Levitate, navigate to the Google Business Profile integration
  • Follow the connection flow and sign in with the Google account that now has the correct access
  • If you see a "Verification Failed"/ “Integration Disconnected” error, double-check that the correct account is being used during the Google sign-in step

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Levitate does not block personal Gmail accounts outright — the issue is whether that account has been granted access to the specific business profile in Google's settings.
  • The connection error shown in Levitate will say "Integration Disconnected" — this is a generic message. The underlying cause is almost always a permissions issue on the Google side.
  • If you've confirmed your permissions are correct and are still seeing the error, contact Levitate support for further assistance.

FAQS

Q: Can I use a personal Gmail account to connect my Google Business Profile?

A: Yes — but only if that personal Gmail has been added as an owner, manager, or admin of your Google Business Profile. The account type (personal vs. business) doesn't matter; it's the access level.

Q: I've confirmed I have manager access, but I'm still getting a "Failed to Connect" error. What should I do?

A: Try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration. If the issue persists, reach out to Levitate support — there may be a configuration issue on Google's end.

Q: Does it matter if I use a Google Workspace account vs. a personal Gmail?

A: Either can work as long as the account has the required access level (owner, manager, or admin) within your Google Business Profile.

Q: I am an admin, manager, or owner of multiple Google Business pages— will all of them show up here?

A: By default, yes. If you are the connected user to the Google Business pages through Levitate, you will need to contact your success manager or Levitate Support to add/remove locations we are connected to.

Q: Can each user connect to a Google Business page?

A: No, the Google Business page integration is intended to be an account-wide feature, not user-by-user.

Q: I manage multiple locations with multiple Google Business Profiles— how can I tell which reviews are being left for which location?

A: When setting up the Google Business Profile integration, you are able to choose some or all of the locations that you manage. When reviews come through, they will show on your dashboard with the Business Name and City.

Q: How long does it take for a Google review to appear in Levitate?

A: There may be a short delay between when a Google review is submitted and when it appears in Levitate. Reviews are synced from Google on a regular interval, currently every 4 hours, so new reviews should show up within that timeframe.

Q: Why aren’t all my Google reviews showing up right away?

A: If your business receives a large number of Google reviews in a short period of time, some reviews may not appear immediately. Google may temporarily hold these reviews while conducting an audit to determine if they are legitimate or potential spam. Once the review process is complete, approved reviews will become visible.

Q: Why do my Google reviews look different in Levitate compared to my Google Business profile?

A: If you’re noticing differences between reviews in Levitate and on your Google Business profile, the first step is to compare the reviewer names in both places. In some cases, discrepancies can occur if the connected Google account is not the correct one.

If the reviewer names in Levitate don’t match what you see on your Google Business profile, it’s likely that a different or incorrect Google account was connected. Double-checking the connected account can help ensure your reviews are syncing accurately.
