Levitate + CasePeer Integration
Overview
Levitate's CasePeer integration helps legal professionals stay connected with clients by syncing contact data from CasePeer directly into Levitate.
- Industry: Legal
- Platform: CasePeer by 8am
- Integration Type: API-based
CasePeer is a legal case management platform designed for law firms. The integration automatically imports your contacts and enriches them with case-related tags and key facts, so you can stay engaged with clients without manual data entry.
Authentication & Access
- Connection type: OAuth — you authorize Levitate from CasePeer's own sign-in screen, so Levitate never handles your CasePeer password.
- Access level: read-only. Levitate can read your CasePeer data and cannot create, change, or delete anything in CasePeer.
- Per user: each Levitate user connects their own CasePeer account. One person authorizing does not connect anyone else on the account.
- Staying connected: Levitate refreshes its own access automatically. If your CasePeer access is revoked or your password changes, you may need to reconnect.
How Data Syncs
- Initial sync: runs as soon as you connect and imports your existing contacts, along with their tags and key facts.
- Ongoing sync: Levitate checks CasePeer for new and changed records roughly every 12 hours, so edits made in CasePeer appear in Levitate within about half a day.
- Periodic full refresh: in addition to the incremental sync, Levitate performs a complete re-read of your CasePeer data about once a month to catch anything that changed outside the normal sync.
- Direction: one-way, CasePeer into Levitate.
What Syncs from CasePeer to Levitate
Contact Information
| Levitate | CasePeer |
|---|---|
| First & Last Name | First, Middle, Last Name |
| Email(s) | Email, Email 2 |
| Phone Number(s) | Phone 1, Phone 2, Phone 3 (with their types) |
| Address(es) | Address 1, Address 2 |
| Birthday (key fact) | Date of Birth |
Notes:
- CasePeer holds up to three phone numbers and two addresses per client, and all of them sync.
- Whichever phone or address is marked preferred in CasePeer is listed first in Levitate.
Ownership
Contact ownership is based on caseworker roles in CasePeer. You can choose which role assigns ownership:
- Lead Attorney (default)
- Case Manager
Ownership is taken from the contact's most recently updated case. If no one is assigned in the chosen role, the contact is marked Unassigned and can be mapped manually.
Tags
Levitate assigns tags to contacts based on their case data in CasePeer.
Client Status Tags
These are always applied and need no configuration:
- Client – every client synced from CasePeer.
- Active Client – has at least one case in a status CasePeer treats as open
- Past Client – all of their cases are in a closed status
Note: Case statuses are configured by each firm in CasePeer, and a case whose status cannot be determined counts as neither open nor closed. A contact can therefore have the Client tag without Active Client or Past Client.
Case Tags
These are optional and are turned on for your account by your Success Specialist. A contact with several cases receives one tag per case:
- Court Case Number – the docket number filed with the court, e.g. Court Case Number: CV-100
- Court Case Name – the case name as filed with the court, e.g. Court Case Name: Smith dog bite
- Case Name – your firm's internal name for the case, e.g. Case Name: Smith v. Jones
- Case Type – the practice area, applied as the type's own name, e.g. Personal Injury
Attorney-Based Tags
You can optionally tag contacts based on:
- Lead Attorney – applied as Lead Atty: Jane Smith
- Case Manager – applied as Case Mgr: John Doe
For each, the options are:
- None
- Most recent – only the person on the most recently updated case
- All – everyone in that role across all of the contact's cases
Key Facts
- Birthday – pulled from the contact's date of birth in CasePeer
- Client ID – the contact's CasePeer client ID, for cross-referencing back to CasePeer
Writeback to CasePeer
The CasePeer integration is read-only. Unlike some other Levitate integrations, it does not write activity, notes, or contact changes back to CasePeer.
This is a limitation of CasePeer's API rather than a setting: CasePeer Clients do not have notes; instead, its notes attach to a case rather than to a person, so there is no matching place to record contact-level activity.
Contact Sync Scope
By default, all clients from your CasePeer account sync into Levitate. Every contact the integration imports is a client, because we retrieve them from CasePeer's Client API — there is no separate group of non-client contacts.
If you want to narrow what syncs, your Success Specialist can set up tag-based segmentation so only contacts with (or without) certain tags are brought in. Because CasePeer tags come from case data, this filters on case attributes such as case type rather than on contact type.
If a client is deleted in CasePeer, Levitate notices during its next full refresh and archives the matching Levitate contact. Note that CasePeer requires you to delete a client's cases before you can delete the client.
Enabling the CasePeer Integration
If you are a CasePeer user and want to connect it to Levitate, reach out to your Success Specialist. They will enable the integration for your account, after which a card to connect your CasePeer account will appear in your Levitate dashboard.

Follow the on-screen steps to connect your CasePeer account. Once connected, Levitate will begin syncing your contacts, tags, and key facts from CasePeer.
Note: The CasePeer integration must be enabled on your account by your Success Specialist before the connect card appears in your dashboard.
Connecting your CasePeer account
Once the integration is enabled for your account, go to the Integrations section in Levitate. A CasePeer card will appear there. Click it and follow the OAuth prompts to authorize Levitate to read your CasePeer data. Each Levitate user connects their own CasePeer account — one user authorizing does not connect anyone else on the account.
After you authorize, Levitate performs an initial sync and begins importing your contacts, tags, and key facts automatically.
FAQs
Q: Can I update contact information in Levitate and sync it back to CasePeer?
A: No. CasePeer is your source of truth for contact information. Levitate reads contact data from CasePeer — changes made only in Levitate will not push back to CasePeer and will be overwritten on the next sync. To update contact information, make the change in CasePeer first. You can, however, add supplemental information in Levitate — such as notes or additional tags — that are not sourced from CasePeer.
Q: Who makes CasePeer?
A: CasePeer is a product of 8am, the same company behind MyCase and Docketwise.
Q: Will my existing CasePeer contacts be imported after I connect?
A: Yes. Once you connect your CasePeer account, Levitate will perform an initial sync to import your existing contacts along with their tags and key facts.
Q: Why don't I see the option to connect CasePeer in my dashboard?
A: The integration must be enabled on your account before the connect card appears. Contact your Success Specialist to get it activated.
Final Notes
Because every CasePeer account may be configured differently, your exact experience may vary slightly. The integration is designed to bring your client data into Levitate so you can focus on building relationships, not managing spreadsheets.
