Levitate + Bloomerang Integration

Bloomerang is a nonprofit CRM built for constituent relationship management and fundraising. When you connect Bloomerang to Levitate, your constituent data syncs automatically so your team can focus on building relationships — not managing data.

Connecting Bloomerang to Levitate

The Bloomerang integration uses OAuth, so no API keys or passwords are required. An admin can connect the two systems in just a few steps:

1. In Levitate, open the dropdown menu under your name in the upper right corner and choose Integrations.
2. Find the Bloomerang tile and click Connect.
3. You will be redirected to Bloomerang to authorize the connection. Sign in with your Bloomerang credentials and grant access when prompted.
4. Once authorized, you will be returned to Levitate and the integration will be active.

What Syncs

Once connected, Levitate imports the following from Bloomerang:

• Constituents — each constituent becomes a Levitate contact.
• Households — constituent household links are preserved in Levitate.
• Emails — all email addresses on record.
• Phones — all phone numbers on record.
• Addresses — mailing and home addresses.
• Common fields as tags — admins can select common Bloomerang fields, such as constituent status and membership, to sync in as tags.
• Constituent custom fields — custom field values defined in Bloomerang. Date-typed custom fields sync in as key facts; other custom field types sync in as tags.

Note: Deceased constituents are flagged for archival in Levitate when the sync runs.

Sync Schedule

After the initial import, Bloomerang data syncs on Levitate's normal automatic schedule. Changes made in Bloomerang — updated contact info, new constituents, deceased status — are picked up and reflected in Levitate without any manual action required.

Key Facts

Levitate extracts several date fields from Bloomerang and surfaces them as key facts on each contact's profile:

• Birthday — A constituent's birthdate becomes a Birthday key date, which feeds Levitate's birthday automations.
• Renewal — A constituent's membership renewal date becomes a Renewal key date, which feeds renewal automations.
• Custom date fields — Admins can select additional Bloomerang date-typed custom fields to bring into Levitate as key dates. Non-date custom fields sync in as tags instead — see What Syncs above.

Note: Giving history is not included as a key fact. Levitate's donor rollups already compute giving summaries from the imported donation records.

Organization Constituents

Organization-type constituents in Bloomerang sync into Levitate as contacts. The organization's full name maps to the contact's first name, and the last name is set to "N/A" as a placeholder. Donations associated with that organization are imported alongside the contact record.

FAQs

Q: Does Bloomerang have a tags field, or is everything a custom field?

A: Bloomerang doesn't have a single dedicated tags field. Instead, Levitate can bring in certain common fields (like constituent status and membership) as tags, and non-date custom fields sync in as tags as well. Date-typed custom fields come in as key facts instead.

Q: Do I need a special Bloomerang account type to connect?

A: You need admin-level access in both Levitate and Bloomerang to authorize the OAuth connection.

Q: What happens to a constituent marked as deceased in Bloomerang?

A: Deceased constituents are flagged for archival in Levitate during the next sync. Your team will see the archival flag and can confirm the action within Levitate.

Q: Are organization constituents synced?

A: Yes. The organization name will be in the contact first name with "N/A" in the last name. Donations made by that organization will show up under that contact.

Q: How often does data sync?

A: Bloomerang data syncs on the same automatic schedule as other Levitate integrations. There is no manual sync trigger required.

Q: Can I disconnect the Bloomerang integration?

A: Yes. Go to Integrations in Levitate and disconnect Bloomerang from the integration tile. Existing contacts imported from Bloomerang will remain in Levitate.
