Attaching Files to Emails

The Levitate email composer lets you attach files directly to your outgoing emails — either by dragging files onto the composer or by clicking the attachment button. Each attached file appears as a chip so you can see at a glance what you've added, and the Send button is automatically disabled if the total attachment size exceeds the limit.

Adding Attachments

You can attach files using either of the following methods:

Drag and drop

  1. Open the email composer.
  2. Locate the file you want to attach in your file manager or on your desktop.
  3. Drag the file over the composer window and drop it anywhere in the composer area.
  4. The file is added immediately and appears as a chip below the email body.

Attachment button

  1. Open the email composer.
  2. Click the attachment (paperclip) icon in the composer toolbar.
  3. Browse to the file you want and select it.
  4. The file is added and appears as a chip below the email body.

File Chips

Each attached file is displayed as a chip showing its name and size, so you can confirm you have the right files at a glance before sending. A chip is highlighted when the attachment is sent as a secure download link, and turns an error color if the file pushes the total attachment size over the limit.

To remove an attachment, click the × on its chip.

Attachment Size Limit

The email composer tracks the combined size of all attachments. If the total exceeds the size limit, the Send button is disabled and a warning is shown. To re-enable Send, remove one or more attachments until the total is within the limit.

Note: If you need to share a large file, consider uploading it to a file-sharing service and pasting a link into the email body instead of attaching the file directly.

Deleting Shared Files

Removing a shared file from the file library requires the Files.Delete permission. This permission is enabled by default for all role groups — User, Admin, and SuperAdmin — but an admin can disable it for a specific User Group in User Group settings.

If the delete option is not available for a shared file, your User Group may not have the Files.Delete permission enabled. Contact an admin to request access.

Protected files

Files attached to one of your templates are protected. Deleting a protected file from a contact removes it from that contact's record, but the file itself is kept so the templates that use it keep working. The delete dialog tells you when a file is protected.

FAQs

Q: Can I attach multiple files at once?

A: Yes. You can drag multiple files onto the composer in one action, or select multiple files at once using the attachment button. Each file appears as its own chip.

Q: Why is the Send button grayed out after I attach a file?

A: The total size of your attachments exceeds the size limit. Remove one or more attachments until the combined size is within the limit, and the Send button will become active again.

Q: How do I remove an attachment?

A: Click the × on the file chip to remove that attachment from the email.
