Tagging based on Survey & Event interactions

There are two ways to tag contacts based on Survey or Event responses:

  1. Tag respondents who complete a survey (one tag set, applied to everyone who responds).
  2. Tag respondents based on their answers to specific dropdown or checkbox questions (each answer becomes its own tag, with a configurable prefix).

Method 1: Tag respondents on survey completion

This is a setting enabled inside the survey itself under Settings. Create or go to an existing survey or event — you'll see this toggle:

If Add a tag to survey responses is toggled on, a tag or tags can be added. All respondents will be tagged with this tag or tags.

Method 2: Tag respondents based on their answers

Responses to dropdown and checkbox questions on any survey can be added to the respondent's contact profile with a set prefix. The prefix can be edited within the survey itself.

This feature is available question by question, and the question itself must be entered before the ability to Tag is shown.

Once you add the question itself, you can click Create tags from answers, and this is what you'll see:

The question itself will be prefilled as the Tag Prefix. This means that if someone picks Green as their favorite color, the Tag will be What's your favorite color?: Green. You are able to edit this prefix, in this case, here's what it looks like edited:

With this edit, the tag will look like Favorite Color: Green.

Keep in mind that each question, that is a checkbox or dropdown type, is available to be turned into a tag based on response and needs to be configured per question.
