Turn a Google Review into a Social Media post

Sharing good reviews and testimonials is a powerful tool for any business— these authentic, positive experiences from customers build trust and credibility, helping to reassure potential clients that your product or service delivers real value.

Levitate users connected to their Google Business account are able to turn positive Google Reviews into a Social Media post to share on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.

Here's how to do it

First, you'll go to your Dashboard and check out your Google Reviews. Each 5-star review that hasn't already been shared has a Create Social Post button. You need access to Social Media and permission to post.

When you choose Create Social Post, you'll be able to customize the testimonial— change the background color, text color, choose to include the stars and the Google logo, and edit or summarize the review into a shorter blurb.

As of March 2026, an image can be used as the background for these posts! Use AI to generate or edit an existing image, or use one of our designs. Background images are able to be cropped, edited, and zoomed in on to better fit the post itself.

Note: Testimonial images use one of the formats described under Testimonial Image Formats below. A background image that is a different shape from the card is cropped to fit.

Once you're all set, you'll hit Create Post and get a preview of the testimonial image, and be able to choose which social media accounts to connect to post it to, add a custom caption, and choose when to post it.

Have a long review that you want to post?

Reviews have no fixed character limit, but the text has to fit in the Quote box on the card. For a longer review, you can summarize it using AI or edit it down manually to highlight a few strong sentences to share.

Testimonial Image Formats

Google review testimonial images come in two formats:

  • Portrait (4:5): 1080 by 1350 pixels.
  • Landscape: 1080 by 566 pixels.

Which format a testimonial uses depends on your account's saved testimonial branding:

  • Accounts with no saved background crop or layout use the portrait (4:5) format by default.
  • Accounts with a saved landscape background crop or layout continue to use the landscape format.

Levitate saves the format along with your testimonial branding. Google review showcase posts on the Content Calendar use the format saved for your account.

Position and Resize Card Elements

In the testimonial editor, you can drag and resize each element of the card directly on the preview. The editor opens when you choose Create Social Post on a Google review. The card has up to four boxes:

  • Quote: the review text.
  • Logo: the Google logo.
  • Stars: the star rating.
  • Author: the reviewer's name.

Each box is labelled on the card (Logo, Stars, Quote, Author), as in the editor screenshot above. Click a box to select it. Only the selected box shows its eight handles. Drag the box to move it, or drag a handle to resize it.

A box appears only for an element the card is drawing. For example, turning off Include Stars removes the Stars box from the preview.

Font size

The font size control follows the selected box and accepts values from 12 to 72. Stars and the logo are sized by their box rather than by font size, so resize their boxes with the handles. The control says so when one of them is selected.

Save as default

Choose Save as default to store the position and size of all four boxes, along with the font size, as your testimonial branding. Choosing a new background image does not clear a layout that you save at the same time.

Edit the quote on the card

To change the review text without leaving the preview, double-click the quote on the card and edit it in place. The card is the same one that gets published, so what you see is what you post. Text that does not fit the Quote box triggers the warning described under Review Length and the Too-Long Warning below.

Default Layout in Settings

The Google Review Branding Preferences section in Settings shows the live testimonial card. Whatever layout you set there is the starting layout for every new testimonial.

To set your default layout:

  1. Open Settings from the dropdown under your name in the upper right corner, then go to the Google Review Branding Preferences section. It appears when Content Generation is enabled for your account.
  2. Drag each labelled box on the card to move it, and drag its corner or edge handles to resize it. Corner handles resize both width and height, and edge handles resize one direction.
  3. Set the font size for the text elements, for example with Quote Font Size and Author Font Size.
  4. To return to the layout the template ships with, choose Reset to template default.
  5. Choose Save to keep your changes, or Cancel to discard them. The Save and Cancel buttons belong to this section and apply only to its changes.

You can adjust the layout for an individual testimonial in the editor at any time. Choosing Save as default in the editor stores that layout as your testimonial branding.

Note: A saved layout that was made for an earlier version of the testimonial template is discarded instead of being drawn in the wrong place. If your boxes are not where you saved them after a template update, set the layout again.

Review Length and the Too-Long Warning

The review text has no fixed character limit. The counter beside the text area reads N characters. When the text does not fit, the counter also says the text is too long for the text area. Whether text fits is measured against the Quote box at its current size and font size, so the same review can fit in one layout and overflow in another.

When the text overflows, a warning appears beside the text area: "This review is longer than the text area can show. Shorten it, or give the text area more room on the card." You can fix it in any of these ways:

  • Summarize with AI: shortens the review for you. The button is available on every Google review, whether or not the text overflows.
  • Trim it yourself: edit the review in the text area, for example down to a few strong sentences.
  • Give it more room: enlarge the Quote box on the card or lower the quote font size.

While the text overflows, Create Post is disabled and shows the reason. It becomes available again once the text fits.

If the testimonial comes from a survey response rather than a Google review, the editor shows the same warning without a Summarize with AI button. Shorten those responses manually.

Note: Because fit is measured against the Quote box and font size, a review that looks short can still be flagged if the box is small or the font size is large. To make more text fit, enlarge the Quote box or lower the font size.

What Create Post Does

When you choose Create Post, Levitate renders the testimonial image from the same template that draws the preview. The posted image matches the preview, including where you placed each box. If the card has no background image, it is drawn on the solid background color. If you used AI to edit the background image, that image is uploaded first.

If something goes wrong, Levitate shows a message that depends on the cause:

  • If the testimonial template has changed since you opened the editor, Levitate reloads the latest template and asks you to approve the card again.
  • Other errors each show their own message, so you can tell a request that was rejected from a template that could not be found, or from too many requests in a short time.
