Uploading and Updating via Spreadsheet: Field Logic
Additive vs. Replaceable Fields
If a field is additive a new value will just be appended to existing values. If a field is replaceable, a new value will overwrite the existing value.
Additive Fields
- Tags
- If the imported Tags(s) do not exist, they are added to the list of existing tags
- Multiple Tags can be uploaded at once, and be split by semicolon or comma
- Email Addresses
- New Email Addresses are added along with existing email addresses
- Phone Numbers
- New Phone Numbers are added along with existing phone numbers
- Key Facts
- New Key Facts are added along with existing Key Facts
- Custom Fields
- Each Levitate account can have multiple Custom Fields, so unless the value of the Custom Field itself is replaced via spreadsheet import, a new Custom Field will be created along with existing Custom Fields
- Company Phone Numbers
- New Company Phone Numbers are added along with existing Company Phone Numbers
- Company Tags
- New Company Tags will be added to the list of existing Company Tags
Replaceable Fields
- First Name, Last Name
- Job Title
- Company Name
- Bio
- Website
- Legacy CRM ID– can only be updated if the Levitate ID (the unique identifier created for each contact when created in Levitate) is on the spreadsheet too
- Additional ID
- Owner ID
- Creator ID
- Address
- The imported address will override the existing address– there can be a Work Address and a home address per contact
- Company fields– Company Name, Company Website, Company Lead
- Most company fields will be overwritten by newly added values
- Connection List
- The imported value will replace the existing list
- Primary Email Address
- If the column head is specifically Primary Email Address, any Primary Email Address fields existing will be replaced
Special & Conditional Logic
- Remove Tag
- Remove Email
- Remove Phone Number
- The above fields will remove specified values listed
- Key Facts
- If a Key Fact of the same type exists, it may be replaced or merged– depending on the Key Fact type or deduplication logic
