Outlook Plugin: Overview + Installation Steps
One of our most popular features within our most popular tool is the ability to track your outgoing emails using the Levitate Outlook Plugin.
How does it work?
When you are composing a new email, you can check the "Track with Levitate" checkbox, and the following will happen:
- Levitate will record a copy of your outgoing email as a note (you can find it in the recipient's profile).
- Levitate will notify you when the email has been viewed (silently, like a ninja, no read-receipt required). How does this work? We embed an invisible pixel into the email body so when it gets loaded again, we'll count it as read.
In fact, so many of our customers love this feature so much that you can now check a box in Settings to make sure this is always on!
Installation Steps for Office 365 Outlook Webmail
Log in to https://outlook.office.com/mail/
Click into the Apps button on the lefthand navigation
Then you'll click Add apps
When you're there, you can search Levitate
You'll choose Levitate and then choose Add
From there, Levitate will be installed as a plug-in to your Outlook webmail app
From an individual email, you can click into the App button and choose Levitate to log emails and see the sender's Levitate contact information
The Levitate Plugin for Outlook allows you to add contacts, add tags, and key facts without ever leaving your email!
Office 365 Users
If you are an Office365 subscriber, you can click on the "Get Add-ins" button on the Home tab, then search for Levitate to add it.
If you have an older version of Outlook, you might see this icon instead.
Either way works. Once you click on the store, search for Levitate in the search bar and add it.
Once you've added the plugin, just open any email and hit the "View in Levitate" button on the ribbon.
If you don't have Office365, you may need to sign up for a free Microsoft AppSource account and download the plugin from the store.
Exchange and IMAP Users
If you do not see either version of the Microsoft Store, don't worry, you can always download the Levitate COM Plugin here (Windows users only). Follow the wizard, and once the download is complete, just restart Outlook and Levitate will be there.
Track Email with Levitate
Having the Levitate Outlook Plugin is also great for when you are composing an email. For example, if an email you are sending is important, you can check the "Track with Levitate" button, and you will be alerted in a real-time when the recipient opens the email, or if they fail to reply in a week.
FAQs
Q: Why am I unable to use the COM version of the outlook plugin after I downloaded it?
A: The new version of the Outlook desktop app does not support COM add-ins. Anyone on IMAP or Exchange email servers who are using the new version Outlook Desktop app will not be able to use the plugin.
Q: Who can see notes saved from the Levitate plugin on a contact profile?
A: When notes are saved from the Levitate plugin to a contact profile, they are only visible to the user who created them. This is intentional to help protect internal communication and prevent private or sensitive conversations from being visible to others within the organization.
Q: Why can’t I install the Gmail plugin?
A: If you’re signed into multiple Gmail accounts at the same time, you may run into issues installing the Gmail add-in. This is a limitation on Google’s side. To resolve it, try opening an incognito (private) browser window, sign into just one Gmail account, and then install the plugin.
