New Donor automations

For our Non-Profit users who are bringing in donor and donation data, be it through DonorPerfect, a Zap connected to something like Stripe or Paypal, or just through spreadsheet import, a New Donor automation can be kicked off.

This automation can be used to thank new donors, send a series of welcome emails or tax documents, and much more to drive donor engagement. Not to be confused with a new donation, this will target donors that have donated for the first time. The donation will have had to be received and/or dated in the past 24-hours for the contact to qualify as a 'new donor,' so when an account is onboarding with all of their donation data, contacts with existing donations won't all be filtered to the automation.

Just like with any other automation, an Admin on the account will need to get it set up. Navigate to 'Automations' and choose 'New Donor Automation' to get started.

Here's what the setup looks like:

Similar to our new client automation, the New Donor Automation can be made fully hands off by choosing 'Automatically approve Automations triggered by new donors.' If this goes unchecked, each new donor will be identified through a dashboard card and need to be manually approved by the user. If it is checked, the user will no longer see the dashboard card and each identified contact will be started without manual approval. .

You can choose to cancel the automation if the recipient replies to emails or texts, cancelling if the contact no longer meets criteria gives the option to create a criteria that the contact must meet to continue receiving the automation. Below is what that looks like.

When setting up automation steps for the Event Registration Automation, here are the options for steps.

Like with any automation, there can be multiple steps, segments, etc. to better work with how you're hoping to reach out!

If everything is set up correctly, this automation will only send to each contact once, upon their first donation.
