Sending from a Levitate Email Server
Levitate gives users the ability to leverage our content, but send from their very own email address (specifically, their email server). However, there are scenarios when it is better for companies to send using a Levitate email server. For instance, some IMAP email servers are prone to disconnection. As well, new email servers may not be qualified to handle the volume of sends. Let's take a deeper look at scenarios when customers should switch to a Levitate Email Server.
IMAP Disconnection
On behalf of the authenticated user, Levitate's API makes a send message requests to the email server. While Levitate has the ability to throttle the volume of send requests (per minute/hour/day), some IMAP email servers cannot handle the number of consistent requests. Therefore, some IMAP servers may disconnect the authenticated user from Levitate. In this case, Levitate recommends switching to one of our email servers for consistent delivery.
New Email Servers
Think of email servers as a person's credit. Starting off, an individual may have poor credit simply because they have not built credit. After a while, an individual can establish healthy credit by consistent transactions and payments. Brand new email servers are similar to a kid fresh out of high school receiving their credit card for the first time. An email server must have a history of sending emails before they can start sending 350 emails per day. Levitate recommends companies with new email servers to switch to one of our email servers for the first few months if they are doing large sends right off the bat.
Sending from a Levitate Email Server
Rather than Levitate making the API send message request to your email server, Levitate bypasses your email server and sends from our own. We will give you an email address to send from and have those messages returned to your normal, day-to-day inbox. You get to choose from a list of our email domains (provided below). So, emails are still sent with your name, the from email is just a little different. When recipients respond to your email, Levitate's magic delivers the email to your regular, day-to-day inbox. This way, you do not miss any responses and can continue the conversation as normal. Please note that Gmail is not able to process the vanity domain and will send from a Levitate Mailer address. When Gmail users respond to your message, it will be forwarded to your regular, day-to-day inbox.
Sending from a Levitate Email Server will not change the volume of emails that you can send. Levitate will still honor your email servers send limits if you switch to send from the Levitate Server.
Levitate Domains
You have the ability to chose from the following domains. The email will be formatted as firstname.lastname@domain
- @independentagent.email
- @securegateway.email
- @myagent.email
- @investmentadvisor.email
Deliverability Notes
Please note that delivery and open rates are higher when sending from your own email server. Therefore, Levitate does recommend that customers send from their own servers whenever possible.
